We usually place an implant under local anaesthesia where we make a small incision in your gums and drill a hole in the jawbone. Once this is done, we screw and fit the implant before safely finishing the procedure. After four to six months, your artificial root would have fully grown into the bone, at which point a crown is placed on it.
In some cases, the crown can be placed immediately – this is referred to as ‘immediate loading’. Dr. Frank Vanhove has years of experience with this non-widespread technique and can advise you on when this is possible.
